Do I need Council approval?
The Sunshine Coast Council and Noosa Shire Council requires any retaining wall in excess of 1 metre high to have building approval. Any retaining wall that is less than 1.5 metres away from a building, other retaining wall or other building structure also requires approval.
How much does a retaining wall cost?
There is no easy answer to this. Every site is different whether it is because of access, varying soil conditions, surcharges, and size of wall. We can only accurately price your job after a site inspection, and preferably an onsite meeting.
Can you give a rough idea of price per square metre?
All prices are per square metre.
- H4 Treated Hardwood timber sleepers $190 – $300.
- Treated Pine sleeper wall $180-$280
- Rocks/Boulders (Random $140 – $250) ($220 – $320 “B grade” cut sandstone) ($340 – $500 “A grade” cut sandstone).
- Interlocking concrete blocks ($150 – $450 Unreinforced) ($300 – $650 Reinforced with geogrids or Mass concrete).
- Mortared Rock Wall $300-$420
- Concrete sleepers $290 – $450.
- Core filled “Besser block” $400 – $600.
- Gabion wall $300-$550.
